File_2-1.JPGPapa San at work136 viewsWe were on a mission to watch this village on the other side of the rice paddy. After two days of sitting in the rain, we got the order on the third day to go across and check it out. It was supposed to be harboring VC. This picture taken when we were about in the middle. Papa San was out doing his daily chores.

Rick_E_5-1.JPGPartially destroyed ammo136 viewsRick explains that some ammo arrived without fuses. They were told to destroy it with C4 and det cord. The ammo was stacked pyramid style with C4 stuffed in the fuze hole and wrapped in det cord. The explosion resulted in a very large piece seen in this photo that landed in the middle of the gun section. It was fortunate that no one was hurt or killed. Detonating ammo is a job for the pros, not wannabes.

Dollies-3.JPGStateside?134 viewsThese Donut Dollies take in a little bit of sun (which we had plenty of). If it weren't for the sandbags, you'd think this was a backyard photo.

Dollies-1.JPGDonut Dollies133 viewsWow...you didn't see this very often in a combat zone! They're out of uniform, but we let them ride in our truck anyway.
As of November, 2014, we know that the Dolly in the middle is Margi Ness.

Rick_E_6-2.JPGTrying to destroy ammo132 viewsThis is a better look at one of the rounds without a fuze that was attempted to be destroyed with C4 and det cord.
The outcome was almost a disaster!
