Rick_E_6-2.JPGTrying to destroy ammoThis is a better look at one of the rounds without a fuze that was attempted to be destroyed with C4 and det cord.

The outcome was almost a disaster!

Rick_E_5-1.JPGPartially destroyed ammoRick explains that some ammo arrived without fuses. They were told to destroy it with C4 and det cord. The ammo was stacked pyramid style with C4 stuffed in the fuze hole and wrapped in det cord. The explosion resulted in a very large piece seen in this photo that landed in the middle of the gun section. It was fortunate that no one was hurt or killed. Detonating ammo is a job for the pros, not wannabes.Oct 31, 2010

They always got in the way and someone was always falling or bumping into them when we swung it around to get it into position! (Wonder if Ft Sill approved this field modification?)
