Lt Gary (Dean) Springer

I came back in middle of August, 1967.  I was assigned at that point to Ft. Hood, TX and was made the S1 of the 32nd Engineer Group.  They had no need for any artillery officers at that time in the 2nd Armored Division.  I only stayed there until the end of December, 1967 as I left the Army and returned to civilian life in Sacramento, California.  I went back to college at Sacramento State University and graduated with a BA and a California Teaching Credential in June, 1970.  I then spent 31 years as an elementary school teacher and as an elementary school principal.

I've been married twice and divorced twice and have 4 children and 5 grandchildren.  I took early retirement in 2001 to care for my ailing parents, both of whom have passed on since.  I still live in the Sacramento area but have plans to move to Eugene, Oregon by summer of 2009.  There I will get to pursue more fishing and more areas to explore riding my motorcycle.

Dean re-married and currently resides in Oregon.
