MISSION STATEMENT

This website is dedicated to the men of the 2nd Battalion, 9th Artillery who served in the Republic of Vietnam from start to finish.  Due to the "swap" of divisional assignments from the 25th Infantry Division to the 4th Infantry Division on 1Aug67, our men have worn two different combat patches.  But our loyalty remains to "The Mighty Ninth"...that will never be "swapped".

As you will note on our Unit History link, following the Vietnam conflict the 2nd Battalion's colors were retired back to the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii from whence we came.   Our unit designation was "used" for a missile unit in Germany during the Fulda Gap scare, but never again as a 105mm howitzer unit.  The unit does not have any active duty assignment nor veteran's association.

This website is dedicated to protecting and preserving the history of a 105mm howitzer battalion that provided vital direct support to our line companies engaged in combat with the enemy during the Vietnam conflict.  It is especially dedicated to our brothers who did not return home.

This website is for you...the men who served with "The Mighty Ninth".
